"Yes my name is Zachariah Zion
My Papa calls me Little Lion
I might be small and I might be poor
But one day I'll have a mighty roar . . ."
The passage above is the opening of the passionate song Zachariah sings for his class during "Show and Tell." Zachariah is a young Rasta boy who is worried about "fitting-in" with all the other children at his new school. When his teacher, Miss Beulah Bell, announces that they will be starting "Show and Tell" that week, Zachariah's panic button is pressed for sure. What could a poor Rasta boy share with a group of boys and girls who brought such beautiful and fascinating things to show and tell that week? Well, what Zachariah discovers is that it isn't the value of the treasures you share that matters, but that the best treasures to share are those that come from the heart. It will be Zachariah's talented performance from the heart that makes him the star of "Show and Tell."
This inspiring story about courage and acceptance told from a child's perspective was a hit with our book club. We had a lot of fun singing, clapping and grooving to the beat of Zachariah Zion's song. We are definitely looking forward to the next book in the Little Lion series!
